A man is fished out of a river and taken to a hospital where he briefly dies. After he revives, it's discovered that he is a nuclear research scientist, has been contaminated with radioactive material, and is oddly uncommunicative. A reporter investigates, and with the help of the scientist's doctor and the police, uncovers a plot to destroy the scientist's work as well as part of London
