The Prize has now become one of the most important competitions in the world. It takes place every three years at the Teatro Municipale Valli, promoted and organized by Fondazione I Teatri Reggio Emilia. Francesco Filidei, composer, is the artistic director of Premio Paolo Borciani.
The ten selected Quartets Arete (South Korea), Ast (South Korea), Eden (South Korea), Elaia (Germany), Elmore (Great Britain), Eos (Italy) Fibonacci (Great Britain, Spain), Ineo (Austria), Risus (South Korea), Wassily (France) will compete over the course of a week, tackling repertoire from Classical to Contemporary. Three of them will be admitted to the final taking place on Sunday, June 16 at 4PM CEST.
The Jury counts renowned personalities of the music world such as: Sonia Simmenauer , president; Lorenza Borrani, Kim Kashkashian, Garth Knox, Jonas Krejci, John Myerscough, Abel Tomás.

• Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Quartet in C major K 465 “Dissonanzen” – 33’ – Arete Quartet

• Ludwig van Beethoven, String Quartet No. 9 in C major, op. 59 No. 3, 1st mov. – 10’ – Ast Quartet
