Antiguas crónicas de viajeros relatan misteriosas rutas por ríos y lagos de la Península de Taitao utilizadas por los Chonos, un pueblo canoero extinto. Evitaban los terribles mares abiertos del Golfo de Penas del Pacífico Sur y las aguas heladas de la Laguna San Rafael. El documental las reconstruye en un difícil recorrido por el istmo de Ofqui y el ventisquero de San Rafael.
