Marcelo Leppe: Doctor en Ciencias Biológicas. Paleobiólogo. Doctor en Ciencias Biológicas de la Universidad de Concepción. Director del Instituto Antártico Chileno (INACH). Su investigación se centró originalmente en la flora triásica del suroeste de Gondwana, pero ahora sus esfuerzos están en el estudio de las conexiones entre Sudamérica y la Antártida durante el Mesozoico (principalmente Cretácico) y el origen de las biotas del sur de Sudamérica. Leppe es el representante chileno en el Comité Científico sobre Investigación Antártica (SCAR).

Professore emerito dell'Università degli Studi di Perugia, Accademico dei Lincei, co-fondatore del MOLAB e Presidente Onorario del Centro di Eccellenza SMAArt. Partner dei progetti europei su beni culturali dal 1999, è autore di oltre 350 pubblicazioni scientifiche su riviste internazionali, nonché del volume Science and Art.
