Le loro testimonianze si fondono in un unico racconto corale nel quale predomina il ricordo del lungo e difficile viaggio per raggiungere l’'Italia dai Paesi d’origine. La vita quotidiana della comunità di cui i ragazzi fanno parte e che lasceranno non appena raggiunta la maggiore età, fa da sfondo al racconto. Margot Friedländer, una judía nacida en Berlín en 1921, sufrió el horror del régimen nazi. Tras vivir muchas décadas en Estados Unidos, regresó a su ciudad natal en 2010, ya muy anciana, y desde entonces lucha para que la historia no se olvide.
Margot Friedländer, nacida como Margot Bendheim en Berlín, cumplió 100 años en noviembre de 2021 y es ciudadana de honor de la capital alemana.
