Laureato all'Istituto Landau dell'Accademia delle Scienze russe, consegue il dottorato in Fisica della Materia. Dirigente di ricerca del CNR-SPIN, è esperto nei campi della superconduttività, teoria dei metalli e nanofisica. Ha lavorato come ricercatore presso Argonne National Laboratory e come professore ordinario dell'Università Tecnologica di Mosca. Ha ricevuto il Premio di Stato dell'URSS per i giovani ricercatori, 1986.
